The Rock Island County Historical Society (RICHS) will be open regular hours Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature a special event on Sunday, June 25.
Rock Island County Historical Society (RICHS) stores the history of Rock Island County. The library has newspapers from the 1860s from many of the towns. Extensive research library, including genealogy. The Atkinson-Peek house museum can be toured. The Clothes Loft and Carriage House are also a part of the museum experience and will take you back to the Quad Cities of the past. SPOTLIGHT ON THE QUAD CITIES
Sunday, June 25th, the Atkinson-Peek House Museum, the Carriage House and RICHS research library will be open to the public. There will be a clothing display in the library titled “A Wedding Party” featuring bridesmaid dresses from the past. The house museum will feature a newly redecorated master bedroom. The Library will feature display items related to World War I as well as flags flown in the Quad Cities on significant events such as the dedication of the replica of the Fort Armstrong blockhouse in 1916.
Punch, coffee and cookies will be served.
